Dwelling Light

Revelation 4:3 And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald.
John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
MONUMENT—Dwelling Light

Details
Selected by renowned international artist, Jann Haworth, for the Emmanuel Art Gallery’s annual juried exhibition, Guilty 2025.
Dwelling Light is a three dimensional monument created for 3D Design at the University of Colorado Denver. Tasked with choosing a person, place, or cause for my monument to honor, I chose to explore form, color, and light based off of descriptions of the “light of the world” and the One who spoke light into existence, the Lord Jesus Christ.
With the freedom to use any materials, I used acrylic plexiglass as it allows for the transformative nature of light to imbue a sense of life; in real-time, revealing previously invisible or not-yet existent dimensions of this light painting—a fitting metaphor for the many descriptions of Christ throughout the Scriptures.
